Around 15:40 on January 19, a upper elementary school boy walking his dog reported seeing a dark brown, bear-like animal about 1.5 meters long in the bushes near Fujino Shrine in Fujigaoka Park, Minami Ward, Sapporo. Police responded but found no footprints or droppings, and no damage to people or property has been confirmed.

At around 11:40 on December 17, 2025, a man in his 40s clearing snow in Shirakawa, Minami Ward, Sapporo, spotted two bears believed to be a mother and cub (about 1.5 m and 1 m long) walking toward the mountain to the north. The bears were about 50 meters from the witness and roughly 100 meters from residences; no damages have been reported and police are patrolling the area.

On November 20, 2025 at about 19:00, a high school boy walking home in a residential area at Ishiyama 1-jo 3-chome, Minami Ward, Sapporo, sighted one bear on the road (estimated about 1.7 m). Later at around 22:30 people on a bridge reported a "black mass" in nearby bushes; the city's trace investigation found no bear signs and concluded a deer was more likely.

The bear then moved into vegetation along the Toyohira River. The city planned to conduct a trace survey the following day.
