At around 07:40 on November 19, 2025, something believed to be a bear was sighted on the riverbed of the Kōno River about 50 meters upstream from Kitaizumi Bridge in Matsugasaki Kotakeyabu-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. Nearby elementary schools requested parents pick up students, conducted escorted group dismissals, and urged children to refrain from nonessential outings after school.

At around 07:40 on November 19, 2025, police received a report of one bear sighted on the riverbank of the Takano River in Matsugasaki Kotakeyabu-cho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. No injuries or damage have been confirmed, and the Kyoto Prefectural Police have warned nearby residents to be cautious.
