On the night of May 6, 2026, two residents in a residential area of Nishigamo, Kita Ward, Kyoto City reported to the Kita Police Station and the ward office that they saw one young bear-like animal around 8:00 PM. The site was a field west of the Nishigamo city bus garage, and the ward office put up warning signs on the morning of the 7th.

Earlier the same day at about 9:50 a 110 call reported a "black animal like a bear" in shrubs in the Omiya Shakagatani residential area; officials checked the site but did not find the animal.

Around 02:00 on November 18, 2025, a male student reported seeing a bear-like animal about 1.5 meters long in the bicycle parking area of an apartment in Nishigamo Kamishodacho, Kita Ward, Kyoto. The Kyoto Prefectural Police Kita Station and the ward office alerted local elementary and junior high schools and posted warning notices near the scene.
