At around 11:40 on December 17, 2025, a man in his 40s clearing snow in Shirakawa, Minami Ward, Sapporo, spotted two bears believed to be a mother and cub (about 1.5 m and 1 m long) walking toward the mountain to the north. The bears were about 50 meters from the witness and roughly 100 meters from residences; no damages have been reported and police are patrolling the area.

On the afternoon of November 2 in Fujino, Minami Ward, Sapporo, a cub-sized bear (about 50–72 cm) was repeatedly sighted in a residential area. Hunters fired shots at 16:20 and 16:30 and killed one bear; the culled animal was confirmed to be a 72 cm male cub born this year.

Around 11:40 on November 2, a roughly 50 cm juvenile bear was spotted in the yard of a residence in Fujino 5-jo 8-chome, Minami-ku, Sapporo, and a resident called emergency services. Hunters and police were dispatched and the bear was reported to have been roaming the area until around 15:00, with multiple calls made.
