In Nishihara district, Kamikitayama Village, an adult female bear (about 115 cm long, approx. 75 kg) was trapped on December 6 at around 07:30, after a trap had been set from November 28. The bear was euthanized the same day using drugs to avoid causing pain. This was the first case under the prefecture's revised bear management plan, which designates village/settlement zones for culling as a principle.
