At around 10:30 a.m. on April 19, 2026, a cub and an adult bear about 1.2 meters long were sighted in woodland near a residence in Muramatsu-machi, Nagaoka City. The cub was seen close to the house and the adult was observed about 150 m from the house; the Nagaoka police, in cooperation with the city, are issuing warnings and conducting patrols.
