Three bears were sighted on Route 289 at Itozawa, Minamiaizu Town around 20:00 on the 12th. Reports indicate the animals were about 0.5–1 meter in length.

Around 11:00 PM on October 17, on National Route 289 in Shimo Yama area, the witness driving west from Tadami toward Minami-Aizu observed a bear about 1 m crossing from north forest toward the southern Inan River direction. The bear headed toward the Inan River.
