On the morning of April 30, 2026, a bear about 1.0 m long was seen crossing a prefectural road north to south in Aizu Misato Town at around 07:20, and at about 07:30 another bear about 1.5 m long was seen crossing a nearby prefectural road north to south. Police say it is unknown whether the two sightings were of the same animal, and no human or property damage has been confirmed.

When residents knocked on the window it fled toward a neighboring storehouse; the next morning (March 31) a similarly sized bear was found in nearby brush and police and town authorities are responding.
