Around 04:30 on the 8th, an adult male bear was found inside a cowshed at Omori Farm in Kamitomai, Ninohe City. On December 10 at about 11:15 a.m., the bear was captured using a tranquilizer gun during an emergency shooting and then culled; it was about 1.2 m long and weighed roughly 60 kg, and some 60 cattle were unharmed.

In the early morning of December 8, an adult bear entered a cattle barn in Kamitomai, Ninohe City, Iwate Prefecture, and remained for more than half a day, eating cattle feed. The city is attempting to capture it using a box trap to avoid stressing the livestock.

On December 1 around 07:30, two bear cubs were seen crossing a town road in the Tonai-Odo district of Sannohe Town. Later the same day at about 08:50, a single bear of unknown size was observed in an apple orchard in the Umenai-Komagi district of the same town.
