Around 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, inside a private residence in Tanakajima, Kamigou-cho, Kitakata City, a witness (a man in his 50s) saw a bear about 50 cm in body length inside the home upon returning home. Subsequently, the bear did not move from inside the residence. At 8:45 AM on Thursday, February 12, it was captured. No human or property damage has been confirmed. Even in winter, bears are appearing. Do not leave attractants (vegetables, kitchen waste, etc.) around the residence, and ensure doors and windows are secure and conduct regular patrols of vacant houses and storerooms.

Around 18:00 on February 11, a resident in Takasato, Kitakata City found one bear occupying the kitchen of their house. Authorities set a trap and on the morning of the 12th captured a female bear about 70 cm long; there were no injuries.

At around 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 27, along the north-facing slope of Prefectural Route 340 within the Oshodō area of Nishihaga, Takago Town, Kitakata City, a witness (a man in his 60s) observed a bear about 50 cm long climbing the slope on the north side of the road while vehicles were passing. Its whereabouts after that are unknown.

On December 31 (Wednesday) around 10:39 a.m., in the Kobamine area of Agezu, Takago Town, Kitakata City, a witness (a man in his 60s) observed one bear (approximately 50 cm in body length) wandering on his home premises. Afterwards, the bear went under the informant's residence eaves and did not move. As of now, no human or property damage has been confirmed.
