Around 07:00 on October 15, 2025, an adult male bear (1.4 m long, 70 kg) was caught in a box trap set by Kurihara City near Mount Kurikoma and was euthanized on site. It is unknown whether the captured bear is the same individual involved in the mushroom-picker attack on October 3; the city and police will investigate further.
