The bear then left into the brush to the south.

The witness continued driving and did not follow, so the bear’s subsequent movements are unknown.

Around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in Akai, Minato-machi, Aizuwakamatsu City, a witness (male, in his 70s) was checking an electric fence being installed near a rice paddy when he spotted two bears (each about 1 meter in body length) climbing trees in the woodland to the south of the rice paddy. The two bears later moved deeper into the mountains.
