At around 13:20 on January 16, 2026, a man in his 70s driving on Route 7 in Mizubayashi, Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, observed a single bear about 50 cm long crossing the road. The nearest house was about 40 meters away and the police have urged residents to be cautious.
