Around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, in the yard of a private house on the north side of the Nakano-Uchi-Ota Line in Iizaki, Minamisoma City, a witness (a man in his 70s) observed a bear-like animal about 50 cm long enter the private yard from the prefectural road, cross the yard, and enter the shrubs on the west side.

At around 03:50 on the 3rd, a man in his 70s spotted one bear-like animal about 0.5 meters long crossing the grounds of a private residence in Kitahara, Iizaki, Odaka Ward, Minamisoma City and entering the bushes. No human or property damage has been confirmed; the police shared information with the city, are conducting patrols by police car, and have urged nearby residents to be cautious.
