On May 13 at around 17:30, a resident in Okuno, Toyooka City reported seeing one bear enter a storage building on their property. About 40 minutes later wildlife control officers detected a heat source on part of the second floor; after overnight monitoring they confirmed the bear was gone the next morning. The city believes residual solar heat is likely but, since the bear appears to have entered the vacant house, it may consider legal capture if sightings occur nearby.
