September 23, around 7:05 AM, Okuma Town, Shimonokami area; guard (72-year-old man) observed a bear about 50 cm walking in the forest east of a gate near the environmental ministry gate.

Around 09:00 on April 14, a male Asian black bear (162 cm, 72.4 kg) was found caught by a boar snare in a forest along Route 288 in Nogami, Okuma, by a nuisance wildlife capture team commissioned by the town. The town shot and euthanized the bear with a rifle because there was a risk the bear would break the trap before anesthesia could be arranged.
