In the paddy fields of Nihongi district, Shibata City, Niigata, hunter Tsutomu Okumura (80) was preparing his gun after exiting a light truck when a roughly 1.5-meter bear attacked, biting his face and the back of his head. Despite heavy bleeding, Okumura tracked and shot the bear, was taken by ambulance and received stitches and other treatment.
