At about 08:05 on November 16, in Bandai Town, Fukushima Prefecture, a man in his 80s removing an electric fence for nuisance animals on an agricultural road was attacked by a bear and sustained injuries to his head and right leg. Witnesses called 110 and shouted to drive the bear away; the man could speak but had difficulty walking and was taken to hospital.

Around 7:30 a.m. on November 12, along the Inawashiro-Shirakawa Line on the Gongen-mori area of Kan-mita? in Iwapita: the witness driving from Inawashiro Town toward Aizuwakamatsu City observed a bear about 70 cm crossing the road from south to north. The bear then headed north.
