According to Saitama Prefectural Police, at around 22:50 on April 1 a pair of bears was sighted in a field near the Minano-Yorii tollbooth in Shimodano, Minano. One was an adult about 1 meter long and the other was a juvenile; they are believed to be a parent and offspring.

At about 20:30 on February 12, 2026, a bear approximately 1.5 m long was sighted standing up when illuminated by car headlights near the entrance of the Minano-Nagatoro IC on Route 140 in Minano, Minano Town; a driver reported it to police. Saitama Prefectural Police urged residents to be cautious.
