On November 27 in Aomori City, two bears believed to be a parent and cub (about 1.5 m and about 50 cm) were sighted multiple times in residential areas and near schools; a sighting was reported near Aburakawa Station around 20:30. Aomori Higashi High School issued an announcement, locked windows and entrances, about 80 students were handed to guardians and sent home, and no damage was reported.

The larger bear was estimated at about 1 m in length and the other at about 50–60 cm; sightings were also reported earlier and later that day near a junior high and an elementary school. City officials, police, and the hunters' association are patrolling and monitoring the area.
