In a woodland in Sakuramoto, Fukushima City, before 9:30 a.m. on April 26, a man in his 50s who was collecting wild plants was attacked by a single bear about 1 meter long and suffered injuries to both legs, including a bite to his left foot. The bear left after the man resisted; he received treatment at a hospital and his life is not in danger. His wife was uninjured.

At around 20:00 on April 17, 2026, on National Route 115 in Tsuchiyu Onsen-machi, Fukushima City, a passenger car traveling from Inawashiro toward Fukushima City struck one bear that had entered the road. The vehicle was partly damaged but the male driver was not injured; the bear left the scene. Police, working with Fukushima City Hall, warned people in the area to be cautious.
