Around 06:45 on November 17, 2025, a male bear cub about 70 cm long was observed in a residential yard in Inao 1-chome, Tsuruoka City, climbing a persimmon tree; the city carried out an emergency cull of the same individual. It is believed to be the same bear that was sighted at the same tree on the afternoon of the 16th.
