Sighted in dense brush along a hiking trail about 1 km from Moriyoshi Mountain Wildlife Center toward Momodō Falls. About 1.5 m long. Moved toward the mountains.

We were walking from Motō Falls to Moriyoshi Mountain Wildlife Center, around 4 p.m. We noticed a mother bear with cub about to cross the trail toward the river, so we stopped. It was about 20 m ahead. The bears looked at us and then headed into the mountain.
