At approximately 5:10 a.m. on May 9, 2026, a black bear (Asiatic black bear) was reported sighted in Izu, Izushi-cho, Toyooka City. The Tajima region is bear habitat, and following a series of recent appearances in nearby areas, Toyooka City is strongly urging people to take precautions when entering mountainous areas, such as managing persimmon trees and carrying bells.
