That comes on top of recent sightings in Nara Besshiyocho, Uda Ouda Shibo, and Uda Haibara Yamabesan during March 2026, showing that the bear activity is still moving through the surrounding towns.
The busiest ground has been around Oyodo Basa, Nara, Uda, and nearby communities, with the strongest stretch coming in July 2025, when reports climbed to 19, and again in November 2025, when they reached 12. The area around Hase-dera Temple has recorded 86 black bear sightings in all, and the recent months still show bears present through March 2026 and into April 2026.
