Ōnuma Quasi-National Park saw a brown bear on December 9, 2025, near Komagatake by the Route 5 Shimonishiyama bus stop, making that the most recent and striking report. Other recent attention has also clustered around Mori and Shikabe, with sightings and tracks near Shukunobe Shrine, the Fourth River Bridge, Shikabe Station, and the approach toward Hyotan numa Park.
The busiest stretch has been through Mori, Shikabe, and nearby Hokuto spots, where reports keep turning up along familiar roads and station approaches. Activity peaked in September 2025 with 31 incidents and stayed heavy in October 2025 with 20, while November 2025 still brought 13 and December 2025 has already added 1. Across the park, there have been 402 brown bear sightings in total.
