There were no injuries to the vehicle’s driver or other occupants. The bear was found dead near the accident site.

The bear then left into the grove of trees on the south side of the road.

Around 22:00 on May 19, a driver in Ono Town, Oaza Iide Aza Nagakubo, sighted an animal believed to be a bear about 1.5 meters long. The animal left toward the eastern forest; no human injuries were reported and police have urged local residents to be cautious.

On May 19 at approximately 6:35 p.m., an animal believed to be a bear (body length about 1 to 1.5 meters) was sighted in the Kitanochi area of Kuride, Ōgoshi-machi, Tamura City. The animal believed to be a bear left the area and returned to nearby mountain forest.

There were four other similar sightings in the area on Monday, May 18 from around 7:20 p.m., in Monju and Horikoshi, Funahiki-machi, Tamura City.

On Tuesday, May 19 at around 8:00 a.m., in Yoneoka, Shimodaira Otsu area, Netsushio-Kanocho, Kitakata City, on Prefectural Road Netsushio-Kano–Miyato–Nishi-Aizu Line, a witness (woman in her 40s) driving on the prefectural road observed one bear (about 50 cm in body length) crossing the road from north to south.

On Tuesday, May 19 at approximately 7:45 a.m., near the 103.0 km post on the outbound lane of the Ban-etsu Expressway within Iwanone, Inawashiro Town, a driver of a vehicle (female in her 30s) observed a bear (one, about 1.5 m in body length) near the guardrail on the left side of the direction of travel while driving on the outbound lane of the Ban-etsu Expressway. The bear's movements after being sighted are unknown.

In Tamura City, Funabiki-machi, Fukushima Prefecture, a bear-like animal about 1 meter long was sighted multiple times from the evening of the 18th into the morning of the 19th. No damage to people or property has been confirmed so far, and the police are urging caution.

On May 18 (Monday) at around 3:00 PM, a witness (male) spotted one bear (about 1 m in body length) in a fallow field in Nishinochi, Sasayama, Funabiki-machi, Tamura City while driving. The bear later left toward the forested area to the south.
