On the previous day, April 27, 2026 at about 17:00, an adult bear was also reported near an agricultural road about 400 m south of the municipal final waste disposal site in Kushibiki Iri-sawa, Hachinohe.

Between about 10:30 AM on April 28 and before 8:00 AM on April 29 there were five sightings in the Kanahama and Okubo areas; the prefecture has issued an Asiatic black bear advisory and urged people not to approach.
