At around 07:30 on November 13, 2025, a female student from Horai Junior High School sighted a bear about 0.8 meters long on a city road near Horai 5-chome in Fukushima City; school staff reported the sighting to the Fukushima police. The board of education suspended club activities at the school and asked parents to provide pick-up and drop-off.
