While driving on National Route 454, a bear cub suddenly appeared on the road from the hillside. We stopped to watch; a second cub appeared. The bears stood on the road, so we honked. The two moved toward the lakeside and passed. The mother watched from a gap in the guardrail; our eyes met as we passed.
