Eikou Youchien

On April 25, three bears presumed to be a mother and two cubs were sighted along the Kiyotaki River in Umekabeta, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. In response, Ninnaji Temple banned entry to the Omuro 88-site pilgrimage area north of its grounds from April 30 and cancelled related walking events. No damage or injuries have been reported.

Around 06:30 on November 11, footprints believed to be from a bear were found in a field in Sagaoosawa Ochikubo-chō, Ukyo Ward; a person on patrol discovered them and reported to the police. Kyoto Prefecture and the Ukyo Ward office urged precautions, advising how to evacuate if a bear is seen and to avoid leaving food waste outdoors.
