The same day, a man walking near JR Ugo-Ushijima Station also spotted the bear, and police have urged caution in the Ushijima Higashi area.

Additionally, bears about 1 m long were reported near Akita University Tegata Campus on April 1 at 18:30 and in the Yuwa area on April 2 at 07:00; an expert suggested the bear may have been hibernating very close to residential areas.
