While the reporter was working in a rice field, they spotted a medium-sized bear along the base of the mountain behind them. They scared it off with a rocket firework, and it ran back into the mountain.

Around 06:00 on November 30, an adult bear was sighted near Tsushida Community Park in Tsushida, Morioka. Additional sightings were reported around 06:30 and 08:00 near commercial areas in Tsushida Minami; no damage has been reported and police are monitoring the area.

On the morning of the 18th, a single Asiatic black bear appeared in central Morioka. Around 06:10 it rammed the automatic doors of the Iwate Education Hall, then entered the rooftop parking of the DCM Sennan store in Mukanakano; it was immobilized with a tranquilizer dart about three hours later. There were no injuries or property damage; the bear was an adult male about 1.5 m long and the city intends to dispose of it.
