There have been repeated sightings of Asiatic black bears near Lake Yachiyo in Yachiyo-cho, Akitakata City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The Haji Dam Family Campground, located near the border with Kitahiroshima Town, ended its season early on November 19.

At around 01:00 on November 16 a driver spotted a bear about 1 meter long walking on a prefectural road about 4 km northwest of the Haji Dam embankment and reported it. Police and city officials patrolled the area, and the Haji Dam campsite was closed temporarily, but no traces of the bear have been confirmed so far.
