Around 08:45 on November 25, 2025, a male Asiatic black bear about 1.3 m long and weighing approximately 76 kg was spotted in the grounds of a residence in Yabase-honcho, Akita City. The city carried out an emergency operation using an anesthetic gun shortly before noon and captured (culled) the bear.
