At around 20:02 on April 14, 2026, a bear about 1 m long was sighted near Tanoinu Park in Tanoinu-cho, Sano City. An earlier report on April 7 at about 17:50 recorded a sighting of one cub-sized bear near Kuzuu Higashi in Sano City.

Around 23:10 on December 3, 2025, a passerby in Machiyacho, Sano City, spotted a single bear moving east on the road. According to the Sano police, the bear was about 1 meter long and the scene was near the Sano Service Area on the Tohoku Expressway.
