At 5:30 AM on May 20, 2026, a man in Shimonaguri, Hannō City reported a bear sighting to the Hannō Police Station. The bear was estimated to be about 1 meter long, moved toward the mountains, and no one was injured.

Around 18:20 on May 17, a bear was sighted entering the grounds of a resident's home in Kaminaguri, Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. A woman photographed the bear and reported it to the Hanno police station; police estimated the bear's body length at about 1 meter and no one was injured.
