On April 9, 2026, two bear sightings were reported in Nakata-machi, Koriyama City, Fukushima. The first, at about 17:45 in Shimoeda Atagomae, involved two bears approx. 1 m in length; the second, around 21:00 in Nakatsugawa Machida-mae, involved a single bear about 70 cm crossing the Ono–Koriyama prefectural road and entering the mountains. Koriyama City urged residents not to leave fruit, vegetables, or food waste outdoors and to avoid outdoor activity in the morning and evening.

Around 13:35 on the 5th, a local man spotted a bear-like animal about 1 meter long in fields in Nakada Town, Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. The animal departed toward the mountains, no damage has been reported, and police are patrolling the area by cruiser and have contacted the city to issue a warning.
