At around 06:30 on April 2, 2026, a bear about 1.2 m long was sighted on a road near an apartment in Naramay, Akita City. Additionally, bears about 1 m long were reported near Akita University Tegata Campus on April 1 at 18:30 and in the Yuwa area on April 2 at 07:00; an expert suggested the bear may have been hibernating very close to residential areas.

Outside, I heard a cry. I looked from the balcony, but it was dark and I couldn’t tell. When I checked online, it sounded exactly like a bear’s call. There have been bear sightings before, and I think it has come again. It is in front of Nakadō Elementary School, so I posted because it’s dangerous.

Observed a bear climbing a persimmon tree on the premises; direction of departure unknown. Length about 1 m. About 5 m from the building.
