At around 17:30 on November 23, 2025, a bear approximately 1 meter long was sighted in a field east of Sendai Izumi no Mori Nursery School in Nanakita, Izumi Ward, Sendai. The bear left the scene and no injuries were reported; police say there was also a sighting on the north side of the nursery on the 21st and remain on alert.

Around 13:00 on the 21st a single bear about 80 cm long was sighted in a field in Nanakita, Izumi Ward, Sendai. A nursery immediately south of the site kept children indoors and temporarily suspended handovers to guardians, but after police arrived handovers began gradually and police and the city are monitoring the area.
