At around 04:40 on May 20, 2026, one presumed Asiatic black bear was sighted near the riverbank north of Watarase Bridge in Tori 4-chome, Ashikaga City. The city also reported a related incident on May 10 in Omata Town where an approximately 100 kg bear was mistakenly caught in a trap and culled.

At around 17:45 on March 17, 2026, two bears approximately 1.5 m long were sighted on the riverbed about 200 m northwest of the north end of the Watarase Bridge. The report came from Sano City but did not specify a place name, and the site may correspond to Shimohayakawada-cho, Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture.

Around 18:00 on March 9, 2026, an animal believed to be an Asian black bear (tsukinowaguma) was sighted at the northwest area of Ikoi-no-Mori Park in Hachimancho, Ashikaga City. The location is in an urban area east of Yashu-Yamanobe Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line, near Yaoko Ashikaga Hachiman and Gyomu Super Hachiman stores.
