Around 18:00 on December 5, 2025, a man riding a bicycle reported seeing a bear in Hachiojiyama Park in Kamitsuyadocho, Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, and the park was closed indefinitely. The park's dog run opening scheduled for the 14th was postponed, and the nearby Gunma Children's Land also closed temporarily.

On 2025-12-02, the carcass of one bear cub was found in Narisuka-cho, Ota City. The cub measured about 65 cm in length, weighed approximately 5 kg, and was estimated to have been dead for around three days.
