At around 13:15 on November 27, 2025, an man in his 80s was scratched by a bear in the grounds of a residence in Heisenji-cho Owatari, Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture, suffering injuries to his head and both arms. He was conscious when transported to hospital, and the bear has not been found; police and hunting association members are patrolling the area.
