Post: While returning home on a farm road from south to north, I spotted a bear about 1.2 m long on the road and stopped. When the bear turned to look at me and our eyes met, it fled to the east-side valley. It then climbed a short distance up the mountain and disappeared. It was about 20 m from the nearest house.
