On May 15, 2026 at about 15:20, a male driver on National Route 227 in Atsuzubecho saw a bear about 1.5 meters long crossing the road. The bear was observed from about 50 meters away and left toward the mountains; the driver was not injured. Police checked the scene but found no traces and have warned nearby residents.
