Around 13:30 on April 8, 2026, a man driving on National Route 277 in Kumaishi Ayukawa-cho, Yakumo, saw a bear about 1 meter long crossing the road and reported it to Yakumo police. The location was on the side toward Unseki Pass from the Kumaishi Disaster Prevention Station, about 700 meters from the nearest house.
