At around 07:20 on November 28, 2025, two bears believed to be a parent and cub were sighted on the grounds north of Toyotomi Junior High School in Toyotomi, Hokkaido, by staff on their way to work, and the police were notified. The school carried out staff patrols and monitoring, held classes as usual, but canceled after-school club activities and took measures to ensure students' safe dismissal.
