At around 04:30 on the 15th, a resident spotted a single bear about 1 meter long in Mamisawa Park in Asahigaoka Tsutsumi 2-chome, Izumi Ward, Sendai, and reported it to the police, who patrolled the area. The bear had already left, there were no injuries, and no further sightings have been reported; police warned the nearby school and residents to be cautious.
