Kahoku’s latest black bear report came on November 7, 2025, when a mother bear and cub were seen crossing the road on General Prefectural Route Shichikubo Line in Kahoku Kiya. That same area has also seen a bear on July 19, 2025, so the roads there are still being used by bears moving between wooded cover and the roadside.

The heaviest activity has been around Kahoku Kiya, Kahoku Natsuguri, and Kahoku South Shinmachi, with other reports also coming from Miuchi, Yochi, Setomachi, and Nakanuma. Activity has been strongest in October 2024, then again in November 2024, and it has continued into 2025 with reports in May, July, August, September, October, and November; Kahoku has logged 60 black bear sightings overall.
