At around 10:10 on April 25, 2026, a passerby reported seeing a single bear about 1 m long cross the road near the famous lone cherry tree at Koiwai Farm in Shizukuishi Town. The bear headed south and there were no injuries or property damage; police have issued a safety advisory.
